A new addition built to engineered plans: a bedroom with a vaulted ceiling, closets and a built-in office nook, plus a new full bathroom.

The owners needed more room, so instead of reworking the existing house we built an addition onto the back of it, framed off the existing garage. Everything was built to engineered plans and calculations.

New construction is more straightforward than a remodel — there are no hidden surprises in old walls — and this project went quickly and smoothly, with no setbacks along the way. The main care went into tying the new structure cleanly into the existing house so that, inside, the addition feels like it was always there.

The architects laid out the new bedroom so that, beyond the sleeping area and closets, there was space left for a small office nook with a built-in desk. A vaulted ceiling makes the room feel open and bright.

The addition also includes a new full bathroom, built hands-on by our company’s owner.

The result: the family gained real, usable living space for their needs, without giving up any of the house they already had.
